Im' a Baby Boomer born in 1954 and I'd just like to say is time to get fkin Baby Boomers out of our government and our politics. Time to give it over the next generation so they can fix our fkups and assure a future for our country and our planet. Boomers haven't had an original idea in two decades (yes exceptions do exist, but rare).
That's just simply ageist. Sorry but age has nothing to do with f-ups (whatever you are referring to). Boomers have had lots of original ideas. You may argue that we are all in a worse place these days but I attribute that to many things other than the age of our leaders. As we atheists like to say, "Mere correlation does not prove causation."
I've been an atheist for 42 to years, so your ownership of atheism rings a little pompous.
I concur, correlation does not prove causation, and yes it is ageist. However, we Boomers have ample causation for the present fuckups.
Begin with Vietnam. to Iraq, to Libya and Syria, and culminating with this despotic president and corrupt Adminstration.
Boomers were the greatest generation, "were". We rebounded after WWII and Korea. We made it to the moon. But as Boomers we tend to be backward looking. In general, we've lost the ability to look beyond the understandings we formed in the 70's and 80's. Our paradigms are worn and tired. We hold onto the status quo and resist necessary change. Even when the consequences of the status quo seeks to condemn our grandchildren to a quality of life less than what we had. Already our children, in general, find it more difficult to make a standard of living equivalent to what we had. Their children will have even less opportunity.
Yes Boomers lead the world in innovation and progress. But time to step down and let new ideas have a chance going forward.
@t1nick baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. The Greatest Generation is/was their parents. They were the ones that rebounded after WW2 and Korea. Booners would have been at best young children at the time. Your statements are just too general . Speak for yourself. :"we" is just too general
