Flew into the upper peninsula of Michigan for business this week. Not quite spring yet!
How did you get to be one of the 5 people doing business in the UP this week?
Funny story about the UP. In the long-ago I was a dispatcher for a trucking company that served the state of Michigan, mostly delivering foodstuffs to grocers. Each driver would get a stack of freight bills in delivery order. What the driver was supposed to "know" was that all the deliveries in the UP were supposed to be dropped off at another carrier in Mackinaw City because the UP is so sparsely populated it's not practical for multiple trucking firms to directly service it. For all practical purposes one trucking company covers the whole UP for all the others -- or at least that was the deal back then.
Anyway the usual driver for that route got sick and the new guy did not know about this. He just kept on going over the Mackinaw bridge and drove all over the UP for a week making deliveries. We thought he had disappeared and absconded with his tractor-trailer.
I had never been. There was four feet of snow on the ground. We saw literally 100s of deer grazing everywhere. I call on banks . Seemed like an okay place but too cold for me!
so....you're saying you're freezing your ........ off? hahahahaha. Better you than me. I'm done with the cold for this year!
Indeed it was cold and barren. . Another trip another month checked off
@Bigwavedave and wasn't it lovely to come back to comfy North Carolina? Sometimes we need a gentle "reminder" to count our blessings!
@Lavergne I wish . Still in the cold barren white north. Long week. I woke up at 3 am Monday and still on the road!
