On my trip today the countryside was awesome! Here are some pics. The campus of buildings is outside of Madill, it's the Red River Cold Storage. The pics to not do it justice, it's bigger than the Tulsa International Airport. O.O
The next pair are of a valley just north of Lake Texoma, when it flooded a couple years ago because they were trying to control the flooding in Tx this valley was under water for weeks and killed all the trees. A forest of dead trees is all that's left. This was just a tiny portion of the valley that was about a mile wide and 3-4 miles long.
The open grassland of southern Oklahoma. Very remote, closest town 17 miles, town size less than 2000. Closest city 48 miles.
The last 2 pics are of The Oklahoma State Penitentiary, nicknamed "Big Mac", is a prison of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections located in McAlester, Oklahoma, on 1,556 acres (6.30 km 2 ). Opened in 1908 with 50 inmates in makeshift facilities, today the prison holds more than 750 male offenders, the vast majority of which are maximum-security inmates.
About 2 miles before you get there are signs on the highway "DO NOT PICK UP HITCHHIKERS - THEY MAY BE ESCAPE CONVICTS".
