I think it's important to emphasize here that Trumpism brought pre-existing racism into the open. Too many folks think it caused it or brought it back.
We did not get rid of racism, we simply repressed it. That's why invalidating key provisions of the Voting Rights Act, for example, was a huge mistake.
The only thing we have going for us is that Trump is a willfully ignorant, incurious, incompetent fool who faints at the sight of blood. If we do not deal with racism and hatred and xenophobia we'll just get another fascist in office -- this time, likely, one with some discipline and courage of his convictions.
It has exposed a level of racism which is higher than I thought it was. I am very disappointed in the self proclaimed greatest country in the history of the world.
no wonder the right is so worried about slippery slopes... they seem to slide down so many of them they expect everyone else to do the same.
@Donna_I They are afraid of pretty much everything. They fear women, gay folks, transgender folks, all folks who aren't white, and some of them. They hate change, science, smart and or educated folks. The Republican party learned to play on those fears. Conservative talk radio is even better at playing to those fears, so hear we are. Sorry, didn't mean to give a speech.
For all the sqwauking about a restaurant refusing to serve Sarah Huckabee ?
