there is a line between bravery and stupidity. Now, being honest, who here has crossed that line? I've done it once a few months ago. I was at a pizza place here in Brampton one Saturday night, eating my calzone sitting right by the door, so I could see who came in and went out. Three guys came in, they were talking amongst themselves, and then this fourth guy came in, and I at first thought they were all chums as they smiled at each other and started laughing. Then the fourth guy, a white dude (drunk off his ass) sudenly pushed one of the three down and he fell back and hit a table. I got up, calzone half finished, and shouted at the drunkard, telling him to either leave or else we'll call the cops on him. I spoke with him in such a loud voice my head started hurting after (the sound of the loud voice resonating against my skull). The cashier gave me a free drink and thanked me for what I did getting rid of that guy. I told them that if he comes back call the cops.
I invited the three guys to sit at my table.
This whole incident was stupid on my part because the guy could have had a weapon.
Spur of the moment stuff happens like this. You were just trying to protect your environment and that of others. Good for you! I think it is sort of a survival instinct.
I guess my size helps me. Some people are intimidated. I have made "suggestions" when things like this have happened and most back down with a few saying they don't want trouble. Guess what... Neither do I! And of course some people are ignorant and prejudge... Thinking because I have long hair I am in a biker gang or something. I actually work for a national lender and spend most of my free time managing my investments. lol I actually grew my long hair because I can... And I plan to donate it eventually.
We don’t have time to think things through in instances like this...we act instinctively. If you speak to anyone who who has been rewarded a civilian honour for bravery, they all say this. The military are probably a different case, because their training makes them more aware of the danger, and how and when to act.
Yes, stupid but honorable. I assume the three guys were small or unable to handle the situation. I've also done a stupid thing. You just seem to react and then realize later that maybe there could have been a different outcome. Life's a roll of the dice.
