I got a tech question for y'all. Do y'all prefer blu rays? Do you still have DVDs? Are you digital only, do you still use cable or are you a minimalist with an antenna only?
Hell yeah I collect blu-rays and DVDs. They’re my pride and joy. There’s nothing quite like a physical copy of a film you love.
Most of our viewing of TV is via straming, but we do have a blue ray player and still have some DVDs too, which the blu ray player also plays. On the HDTVs, at least if you have a good one the differences between blue ray and DVD are not really noticeable to most people. For me, I do ntoice when CGI is insered into films and it is mroe noticeable on DVDs than on blu ray.
Physical media is mostly dead. It exists more strongly in games because those are harder to stream than movies, but it will eventually fade entirely. There's a reason Gamestop got into the action figures and T-shirt business.
I don't pay for TV. Heck, I don't even pay for TV streaming services like PSVue, which I had for a while but used as little as cable. Netflix, Prime, YT, maybe Hulu on occasion have what I care to watch. And if they don't, there are other means to find those things.
The cable model is broken. If you're paying $200/month for all those channels, and there's 5 minutes of ads for every 10 minutes of TV time, why even pay for the service? All this double dipping.
I don't watch TV, but I watch YouTube daily, so I guess that's technically streaming. My husband does watch TV and uses all of the mentioned items and services except for cable/satellite. We used to have satellite, but it just got too expensive for what it was. He only ever watched a few channels so it didn't make sense to keep it.
I have no TV in my home. My belief is that it is a device to influence and brainwash the masses. I want no part of it. Amazing. I don't have a desire to buy a new anything.
