You know you're a farm kid when you see these fence posts and you look to make sure there's no wire, then stop and look again just to make sure before you cross it.
Got any good electric fence stories? One time I was poking a stick into the drain of a metal watering trough, trying to clear it while my brother was scrubbing the trough and brushed against the fence. The shock when through him, the trough, the water, and up the wet stick to zap my finger. I got it much less than he did though!
Got zapped just the other week taking someone for a walk. It was around a horse paddock, luckily not set too high
Brings to mind a favorite cartoon...
Big Ren and Stimpy fan. Look at the one photo in my profile. I wear that t-shirt once or twice a year to summer events.
We used to catch live grasshoppers to use for bait fishing for bass. The grasshoppers would jump and fly away from us. Whenever one of them headed for an electric fence post, I knew he was a goner. Electric fences designed to shock cattle will fry a grasshopper very quickly.
