You can easily watch each season all the way through in order to catch up to this final season within a month for the free month and one extra for the $15 HBOnow price. That's how I did it when I started late.
I find it helps to have the subtitles, to keep the names straight, since some names sound similar and the visual of seeing the names spelled out helps me. The first few seasons seemed much more shocking to me with sex and violence than the later episodes.

Yeah I have to have subtitles because I have an auditory processing delay so it's hard for me to watch anything without them lol so it's been helpful plus the whispering and loud background noises that are so popular lately has me struggling.
The books and the TV show don't match up and totally diverges the last book he wrote. It will be difficult for him to realign the stories to finish the book series.

@LadyAlyxandrea I thought the beginnings of both the book and the series were similar enough. You have to make changes to take full advantage of whatever medium you are using to tell a story. However, by season 5 more than half is different.
In al honesty I think the TV series is better.

Not really a spoiler but the traumatic shocks start early and get you hooked.

HBOnow. Figured eh 15 bucks to stream it all not bad. I'm currently jotting down my thoughts per episode as I go. Trying to keep it straight with so many separate story lines
There is just a lot more boobs and incest than I anticipated. I mean I anticipated some but not quite this much.
@LadyAlyxandrea Yeah. I'd advise starting a flow chart/family tree.
