You bet it is! And very, very personal. Coming from atheist parents, it took a lot for me, in my professional role, to demonstrate bonding with clients who come from traditional religious backgrounds/beliefs, without feeling compromised or uncomfortable at all. That has helped my work.

It seems being ‘spiritual’ requires spirits, or some ‘supernatural force.’ To me, it appears a fluid state allowing the spiritualist to bob in & out of reality, while playing on both sides of the fence. I’ve heard ‘Agnostics’ described as “Fence-sitters,” it appears Spiritualists jump down periodically when nobody’s looking…

O mever use the term.

It's always seemed to me that in science things exist and get reused or changed and that, therefore it's likely that spirit/ life force/ energy exists and gets reused. No evidence and I know there are some people here very science based that will poo poo it, but there you go. If there are no new theories (imagination) there are no new hypotheses to test.

I identify as spiritual but not religious. I have specific beliefs, but I will not go into them here. I tried that once and got some pretty angry and vociferous responses. Plus, they just don't translate well as a Cliff's Note.

At the risk of being dumped on again, here is a saying that I really like:

"You are spiritual beings on a human path."

What's the evidence for the existence of a human spirit? What is a spirit exactly?

I consider myself spiritual but not religious because I see spirit as energy and everything is made of energy in one form or another. At the same time I consider myselp not religious because I don't believe that any human who ever walked on this planet can comprehend any creative power that created anything, much less a creative power that created everything. I am convinced that religions are contrived my man to control and exploit as many other men (and women) as possible and that they are to be avoided like the virus that they are. It is not probable, but it is possible that our conscious survives on another plane when we "give up the ghost." We just might not understand this science yet but we had no idea about quantum mechanics just over 100 years ago. In a "nutshell", I live my life in hopes that in that final pico-second I feel that I have done more good than harm in this life because time might stand still for that pico-second and that would be an eternity.

During my life's journey, and after giving religion it's due bill, I labeled myself spiritual. To me, this meant I didn't believe in a God, but rather my part in the entire universe. In other words, I felt like a drop in the ocean of something much greater than myself. However, now I look back with reasoning and see myself as an atheist and how I've grown along the way.
