Activists release nine thousand pheasants from a hatchery and lead them to a forest.

A spokesman for the countryside alliance said that as a result many shoots may go out of business, then had the stupidity to state "By releasing birds without making provision for them to adapt to the wild many of them will die as a result of these thoughtless and ignorant acts."
Think! The pheasants, even if not
released, will die anyway, of gunshot wounds!
Well done those Hunt Sabs! Nine thousand small lives given the chance to live instead of just a few frantic moments of joy on the wing before being peppered with birdshot from the gun of some moronic arsehole with too much money.
Are they native to the area? Sometimes well intentioned uninformed people make mistakes that compound. They could become an invasive species.
Also, as I was skimming along, I read the preview of this as they released peasants ???
Very native to the area. Pheasants abound in most of Britain.
They probably came over with the Romans along with the Rabbit and they make a colourfull addition to the wildlife.
I grew up on a sporting estate and a brace of pheasants for Christmas dinner was much tastier than turkey.
They can come to Kansas and thin them out some. Stupid birds. The season opens the second Saturday in November.
