I'm really new here. And I just wanted to come here to be with people who have the same or similar beliefs as mine. It's kinda hard being surrounded by people who are all believers, some treat me differently or hate my beliefs or even me, and some are accepting, but I can feel that some of them are pretending to accept, I could be wrong though. I know some of you understand.
Why tell them about your beliefs? That's pretty masochistic, isn't it?
That's like a vegetarian being invited to a barbeque, and not only going, but then announcing to those gathered eating meat is cannibalistic and destroying the planet.
You sound like a troll, but assuming you're legit, take my advice and shut up about it. Unless it's one-on-one, you're practically inviting the herd to attack you.
Even if it's a private conversation, a Christian will figure you're either misguided or Satanic.
It's a Christian's god-appointed task to not only correct you, but then proceed to evangelize you and bring you back onto the ordained Path, etc.
Agnostics and atheists know there's no upside to "converting" the brainwashed. One or two simple questions will clue you in, then go your merry way. Lie if you have to. Anything to spare you the grief.
They aren't listening.
I didn't announce it to random people, but I told my parents and siblings, I thought it was important for them to know, they are family I mean, I don't know. Tell me if I'm wrong about it being important to tell them.
About the other people, we have subjects related to religion and my school is somewhat catholic, and we have religious seminars or something like that from time to time, and the speakers allow questions, of course if I want to learn more I should ask questions. Like "Is it a sin to be an agnostic or an atheist?". That was the first question I asked that connected to my beliefs. I don't know, is it wrong to ask questions to learn? Please tell me sir. Thank you.
Wait, did you read this and think that I went aroumd telling all my friends and other people I know, who I know for a fact are religious, that I am an agnostic and I have different beliefs than them? Did you actually think I went to people and was like "Hey! I'm an agnostic everyone! I have a different belief than all of you!"? Lol dude, where in my post did I actually imply that?
How does this fit with the "Do as Jesus would do." philosophy? Or does that logic mean anything to him? Something like his has never happened to me so I cannot imagine how you must feel; I can only empathise...
Glad to hear there are some people who don't have to go through this. Your empathy is more than enough, it reminds me that there are still people who care, and that gives me strength. Thanks.
I can relate. I'm surrounded by All kinds of religious groups who are die-hard god fanatics. ... when I say I'm an atheist, they say " in this day and time, you cannot afford to not to have god in your life"!
I say ok, ask god to rock up and introduce himself/ herself/itself because "it's" in hiding for too long now. I say "aren't you tired from having"faith" in this invisible whatever"! I said"you're going to self destruct by a load of BS".
Damn, I wish I had the courage to say something like that. That's almost exactly the same as to what pops up to my mind every time people try to talk all religious to me. But I'm kinda scared to do so
I definitely understand. I lost my husband of 14 years when I stopped believing. He hates me just because I refuse to accept his theology. We were fine before it’s crazy how much has changed for me after I stopped believing in god.
I'm sorry to hear that. Two people can be together even with different beliefs. Hope those changes to your life aren't all too bad. And hope you find someone amazing if you haven't yet.
