Here in Florida, we will have our first 90 degree day this week. That means hot and humid weather until mid to late October. aS As a youth, I looked forward to summer as a time of swimming in cold springs and fishing in nearby rivers, ponds, and creeks. I even worked all day in tobacco fields and on wood crews without great discomfort.
Now, in my old age, my body does not tolerate heat well, and I minimize my time outside, just tending my vegetable garden, taking care of the yard. By June, I will already be counting the days until mod-October.
I don't do bad with the weather as long as I have A.C. in the car, work, malls and movies. I try to avoid outdoor activities other than the pool. But I fear hurricane season!
I feel your pain. The house we lived in when I grew up did not have AC. June through August can be hot and humid in the Great Plains. When I was little it didn't matter. Now, I can't sleep if it is too hot. Gotta have my AC.
Growing up in north Florida, we did not have A/C either. There were a lot of summer nights that I lay in bed sweating until I finally got to sleep around midnight.
