Looks like a Black Indigo.

I think I am too far north.

At least the snake doesn't leave me presents in the garage like my barn cat does..... 😀😀

Beautiful. l have always liked snakes.

I wouldn't say I like them but they serve a purpose and I am all for live & let live. Besides he was posing so I couldn't resist 😊

well I am not an entomologist, but here in the south we call those black racers. and they are very welcome in my yard. they kill copperheads. all snakes bite. don't make a common mistake and assume round eyes equal non poisoness. shape of the head with a couple of exceptions in north America indicate the snake is non poisoness. thanks

That's one elegant fellow!

I thought so, also.

Black rat snake. A good type to have if you'd prefer to see fewer rodents around.

she IS pretty! what a beautiful snake. love those eyes too. are they aggressive?

No this is a good snake. Round eyes are one of the signs of non-venomous

@Heidi68 I didnt figure she was venomous. but that doesn't mean she doesn't bite. these bull snakes will get after ya and some of those garters will too. bulls eat rattlers I believe.

@JeffMesser no he didn't get mad til I picked him up & moved him back in the woods

Is that a racer? Do you know the species?

I have no idea - he sure did get mad when I tried to move him back to the woods. His tail was actually making a rattling noise.
