I have posted this before. There is a group who has been around for a few years [thezeitgeistmovement.com] ,that advocates for a resource based economy and notes that our current form of capitalism is unsustainable. They have some very good ideas.

I am of the opinion that capitalism shoudl be highly regulated to prevent expooitation, adn other excesses associated with it.

I liek the model of Democratic Socialism (as done in many countries in Northern Europe), which is basically highly regulated capitalism.

Truth is rarely popular. As atheists and agnostics, we should all be well aware of this.

I don't understand how we can call ourselves progressive and enlightened beings if we continue to hang on so tightly to outdated and no longer useful ideas, theories, etc. At least be open to other possibilities to meet the obviously changing world...what worked in the past needs to be given a nice pat on the back and sent to retirement...change does not have to be a dirty word or one that creates fear...

I am glad people are offering insight and possible solutions...when something stops working, we have to find new ways...I am not going to get into the semantics and pigeon-hole myself as a capitalist or any other title...I want what will work for many and not just a few...

I would like to give just one factor: In 2017, The United States needed 40% of the world's natural resources.So does the old world ( Europe and russia. China also needs 40 % of natural resources and India requires the same for comntinue on the growth curve. Thank goodness, most people are not mathematically schooled enough to detect the problem. And meanwhile, Africa ( not united yet, thank goodness) wonders how their standard of living will ever come up the the rest of the world.
Continuous growth is not possible, and capitalism depends on it.

Absolutely agree capitalism is driving us into a pit.

I knew it wasn't a good system from the time I took my first course in Economics.
We need something to support all people.

I don't have the answers but capitalism? Isn ''t it.

You may be surprised - I suspect the majority of users of this site would at least question whether uncontrolled, growth-at-all-costs capitalism is a good idea, and quite a few of us are somewhere on the "anti-capitalist" spectrum.
