In Colonial, and Early America, most people had 'good books'. Unfortunately, illiteracy was high, and most 'good book' owners didn't know how to read them.In his younger days, the Shawnee Chieftan, Tecumseh, used to visit White settler families, and amaze them by reading their own 'good books' to them. He would later earn their ire by trying to forge a sort of 'United States of Indigenous Tribes', to prevent the White settlers from penetrating farther westwards.
