I already know plenty of like-minded people offline and on here, so I get enough intellectual stimulation and support of my non-belief. So that's why I don't join or attend a Meetup Atheists meeting, because what I really need more of is not the above, but a few more friends that share other things in common with me that are fun and social, as well as women who would be interested in dating me. One of my friends is already involved with the local Meetup Atheists meeting and he has told me it's mostly all guys and no women my age that are single, so I won't waste my time or set myself up for disappointment with that group.

Try if there is a local university, library, bookstore, among other places.

Years ago I did a Google search for "Atheist" + my city and actually found contact information. After back and forth e-mail (or was it phone? that was many years ago) with a guy that is currently in the process of selling his house and leaving the country - initiated a rather pleasant series of attending weekly meetings (at the local Barnes and Noble - Starbucks) Sunday @ noon. Met some good people including a female scientist worthy of significant time, attended a few winter solstice parties that centered around "cards against humanity" and for about three years, looked forward to discussing reality over fantasy with members of this group. Sadly, with the exception of myself, every person in that group migrated to the UU church or (most of them simply left the state (this is a very religious state). That group has been dead for years. Hope you find a similar (not dead) group to join.

do you have a free newspaper that takes free or cheap ads, or craigslist, to advertise a meetup? or make posters and post them where they can be seen, preferably not on church doors rofl rofl

I'm currently reading a book God is not Great by the late Christopher Hitchens. He mentions time he spent in "Dixie" where one might be deceived by a common sight a large sign that simply states JESUS! The gathering he wrote of included many people all surprised to learn they were all non-believers. I think religion has a monopoly; the nature of religion blinding and silencing sensibility and reason among humans still to this day and still in so called progressive areas. I think China and Scandinavian countries may be the exception to that notion. Anyway, I think if you were to open up to others directly regarding your rational existential sentiments you might be surprised at how many like minded neighbors you have. A good place to begin is Barnes and Noble; this may be a less intimidating environment to speak openly.
