Interesting fact
Animal rights were recognised before childrens rights. The main arguement for childrens rights was that animals have more rights than children.
A bit sad.

Fact?. I doubt very much that it is a fact. Slapping a child has even been banned here but then this is a secular country not some pseudo theocracy.

@powder Actually the first law to protect animals was passed in Massachusetts in 1641, but I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. Both children and animals are protected by law from harm.

@powder I think the saddest thing is that in some cultures/religions women still go along with this but are they conditioned or just frightened to stand up and be counted.?

@powder For example in Iran. a woman was attacked in Teheran university for not wearing head covering . Attacked not by men but by other women

What animal rights? They're still being eaten and shot?

@powder So what rights did they get?

@powder I'm curious cos despite the law, we are inundated with children while many species are becoming extinct

@powder Is that not murder?

Sad indeed.

I’ve seen people lavish more attention and resources on their animals than on another human being, regardless of age. Also, here in the US, one hears much hyperbole about “the children” in the abstract, yet few resources and little thought given to the needs of real children. Heck, our government occasionally kidnaps them and locks them up in cages ...

ya gotta admit animals are nicer than some people

@MsDemeanour I’ve been bitten by both ...

@The-Krzyz now now....we don't need to hear about your fiery sex life
