Can you trust the Main Street Media coverage of Venezuela and the American spin there? [fair.org]
so easy to brainwash the avg american. venezuela is falling apart b/c of punishing sanctions which have been imposed for many years. so now the MSM & politicians use venez as an example of what happens to socialist countries.
the scary thing is that most americans are incapable of recognizing the truth.
there is never any mention of the "socialist" scandinavian countries whose citizens enjoy a standard of living most americans can't even imagine.
The history is clear: the oligarch got elected, took control of the oil, gave money to his friends, (including 1000 generals), and started the suppression. And now another of the same ilk is in power, using the oil money for himself. Ten's of thousands are running away. Gotta be some clues there.
NPR did a good, informative take on the situation. Messed up country with a messed up leader, making himself a billionaire moving drugs,through from Columbia. Not at all a failure of Socialism; a failure of a thief, stealing from his people, and claiming to be a Socialist.
The American media seems to be giving it less coverage, now that the coup has failed.
Both the N.Y. Times and FOX news reported on Maduro moving drugs to prop himself up. Not just "liberal tripe." And no, I'm not sending the links. I'm on my phone and if someone is too lazy to check for themselves they don't deserve information.
@Beowulfsfriend ,
and why would anyone with a brain believe the BS/lies that they regurgitate?
@callmedubious So, you would rather believe a lying Orange Cheeto and put troops in the country?
@Beowulfsfriend ,
i certainly don't believe him & also don't believe that the US should interfere in the affairs of venez or any other country.
