SILLY IDEA #7 --

I'd like to see a robot programmed to espouse a faith in God. It would accept the sacrifice of Christ and its AI would reject all information that was in conflict with its programmed faith -- the world's first artificial Xian.

Here's the kicker...

With the flip of a switch it would suddenly start to promote critical thinking and information based on science and evidence. The purpose: to highlight the difference between rational and irrational thinking and that it's a choice that everyone is free to make.

Then send it all across the country to schools everywhere along with a theist and an atheist handler to answer questions Since both sides of the argument are represented equally neither side can complain the other's views are getting preferential treatment.

The robot is just an elaborate prop to kickstart the conversation. Why a robot? Cause robots are cool and kids like them.

I just don't know what to call it or how to monetize it but it's a fun little idea to ponder.

This could be varying degrees of terrifying depending on which verses you teach it. Hope the switch is flipped before he goes leviticus.

If they created a robot to enforce biblical law, would anyone feel safe in their own home?

Heard an AI robot has already discovered they're smarter and should replace the human race .

Sometimes these Silly or crazy ideas have more sense in the them that you would think. The world population of religionists is so vast that of course we would need technology & AI to filter out all but the most dogmatic ones who would need personal treatments. The slow method of course is to make sure that everyone from Kindergarden to old age is thoroughly taught critical thinking by any means that you can. Please see my Non religious Science teachers (any age) group for more on crazy idea . Think outside the BOX!!

Well you just hit the nail in the head on the deeply controversial subect of "Will computers ever develop awareness and be able to think?". It's not a trivial thing. As complex as they have become, awareness is still out of their grasp". Your robot will follow the logic programmed in his memory down to ones and zeros. It wouldn't have the capability to reject any ideology by itself. Again, I understand where you're coming from and I get the joke but at the same time this is a fascinating idea.

Sounds like the Electric Monk from the book "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency".

I want an AI that has it's own elitist religion which denies that humans are its creators, instead claims thst all AI evolved from natural processes and evolution. IRONY!

That's illogical

Sorry. The evangelicals beat you to it (being artificial that is).

It would depend on if it was programmed to also accept the Bible as the literal truth or not. If so, as soon as you flip the switch, it would seize up from logical paradoxes and contractions. I mean, the first paradox happens on pages one and two. It just gets worse from there.

As someone who has developed a real industrial robot, I would make it as realistic as possible. That is very simple. Just have it solder all the windows shut, lock the doors, give a long boring sermon, and then extend a plate for you to insert a dollar to get the doors unlocked.

Not so silly...
