Yeah, a simulator could help you learn to fly a plane or drive a car. What is it that believing we are all in a simulation is doing for you? What are you learning? If you believe this idea right now today, what would you have believed way before the days of simulation? I'm at a loss of what this would prove about anything.

I don’t really give it much thought...as I don’t give anything much thought which has no credible evidence attached to it. Sci-fi is not a genre I like in either literature or movies, and that is what I consider simulation hypothesis to be. Just another one for the conspiracy theorists to get excited about!

Eh. Some links would be nice. I have watched DeGrasse Tyson talk on the idea, but he hasn't shown any specific evidence that I know about. Makes for a good story: we are sitting, forgotten, in a closet after some alien 7th grader placed third at the science fair. At some point things will degrade and holes will start to open up sucking we little simulated people into the darkness of nothing. Or, maybe not. We live, we die, our energy is released with our decaying cells and the nutrition that things obtain from eating our dead bodies.
