Here's an example of how to put yourself in an extremely weak bargaining position. If you enter into negotiations with the other party, and negotiations fail, execute your own diplomats.
An important part of any negotiation is to show the other party you are willing and able to walk away from negotiations. How willing and able will future North Korean diplomats be to walk away from the negotiating table?
You Play!!!! trump would play badly - but there are some bright guys around the USA - and a few ladies too now get involved in that game
the bigger story is that Kim killed more people...and trump calls him his friend and buddy...you are the company you keep...and he likes tyrants...omg...this is horrible...
It's part of the job:
@BD66 It is, I realize...but it is horrible no matter who does it...I don't change my values on horrible behavior based on politics..I am not Lindsay Graham...bad is bad...
@thinktwice @BD66 Trump at least has managed to get some negotiations started with a nuclear power antagonistic to the USA. How N Korea managed to develop a nuclear capability so quickly - probably through technical support of another nuclear power - Russia or China, most likely China.
I seriously doubt that Trump and Kim are best buddies, but if cordiality and flattery keep both sides talking it is better than the supplication of previous USA presidents.
It may well turn out in the fullness of time that the Trump trade war with China is tied into pressure on China to influence N Korea into ending their nuclear programme..
If talks fail, there will eventually be a military intervention- best avoided, but an unstable leadership with nuclear weapons is not viable option.
@ShadowAmicus Past attempts failed so any attempt is better...I do not wish for him to fail just because I don't like him personally...this is for the world to be safer...I just hope that our side is not being played...
@thinktwice so long as you know you are being played - then it is not being played- it is giving ground to get to where you want to be..........the whole thing is a multinational game of Go (game like chess but far more complex) where you make seemingly independent moves, but they are all part of a long term strategy
@ShadowAmicus Do you honestly think trump even has the skill set to play GO? lol...I get what you are saying...I just hope that he has smarter people behind him orchestrating and telling him where to move the stones...
