I gone by on the Philippine consulate to fix my papers going back home to take my vacation, then when I arrived, the desk officer told me that the Philippine consulate is closed cause its holiday in the Philippines, and I asked why its holiday, she said that it's the " end of Ramadan" what the fuck! First of all, we're not Muslim, second is I am into the rush, doing my work as fast as I can so that I can go and do my personal stuff even it's my working hours, and then oh yeah it's a holiday. My country declared it a special nonworking holiday for the Muslims in the Philippines but not only for the Muslim, but it's also nationwide and up to here in Hongkong overseas (consulate) so confusing.😑😑😑

Your country do that too? The holiday during end of Ramadan?

I have no problem with any excuse for a holiday, but I do object to SJWs screaming cultural appropriation if you take advantage a good time being had by some one of another ethnicity to share in the fun.

I'm not surprised by the Philippines having done so, even in a primarily Catholic country. When I was there- 30 some years ago they were fighting a Muslim insurgency along with a communist one as well. Seems they made peace with the Muslims.
That would have been Eider they are celebrating I believe.
In the U.S. there are some Christian holidays off, but no other religions. I worked at a private school that gave off Jewish holidays as well.

Some countries do national holidays and there is nothing at all you can do about that.

You must have been gone long. Chinese New Year is also an official holiday too, not just for the Chinese-Filipinos, so its to cover all ethnic and religious backgrounds. Lots of SE Asia countries do the same. Hong Kong does Christmas too with very little Christian population. Embassies and consulates are legally considered territory of the country they represent, so US consulates would always be closed for Thanksgiving for example no matter where they're located.

What really gets me are the "special holidays", often declared just a day or two prior. Election days are always holidays but never formalized until the day prior. When Obama was in town both Makati and Taguig declared "city holiday" just to clear out traffic while everyone at everywhere else worked.
