I would welcome the opportunity to try psychedelics, to counteract my suicidal despair, which has been diagnosed as depression.

My partners sister who lives in Connecticut had electric shock treatment to her brain as treatment for her severe depression and although it is a controversial treatment it certainly worked for her.
Same thing with a longtime friend of mine here in Iowa. The downside is the ECT wipes out a lot of his short term or recent memories after each treatment.
@TomMcGiverin Yes, a common side effect I believe.
@Moravian But in cases like my friend's, as he says, with suicidal depression, it beats the alternative......
I recommend a really interesting book about exactly that stuff that someone steered me towards recently. It's called A Really Good Day and it's a woman's personal story about a month in which she took microdoses of LSD to treat her depression and kept a journal about it. She was already a published writer so this book is very easy to read, funny and interesting. I hope it is helpful. In her case, the microdosing was helpful for her depression, where before nothing was really working very well for her on that.
Thank you.
Ask for DMT ( by prescription or your local dealer) or try magic mushrooms , but not alone, please. There is lots of data out there reporting on the benefits for people with disturbed levels of brain chemicals. You'll need a psychiatrist' to get a precription.
It may work if you have a strong mind. Depression could worsen if you cannot control the "trip"!
One of my friends is a very successful businessman and Navy veteran claimed that he had taken over
500 hits of acid (LSD) from the age of 11 to 18 without his parent's knowledge and never had a bad trip or bad reaction! This is because he can control his trip due to his strong mind. He retired as a very successful stock broker at the age of 50 and already had his MBA in Business Finance by time he had served 6 years in the Navy and survived 3 serious wounds to his back by time he was 27 years old. He was hospitalized for 6 months in a Navy hospital after he was shot by the enemy in the secret campaign war in Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam war. This person is a very liberal Independent and had served in Bernie Sander's campaign during his first bid for President and says this is not typical of most business people who are Trump supporters. Also, despite taking drugs, he still had 95% of his photographic memories and "brain power" and is studying for his Doctorate (Ph.D) in Business Finance at the age of 65 years old. Doing this (preferably without drugs) and going university for fun keeps his depression in check!
If you are considering going down the hallucinogenic route remember that you may get a bad trip which would not be beneficial for a suicidal mindset.
A psychiatric diagnosis would be a most beneficial first step.
Importantly though, be gentle with yourself. On many occasions depression is chemical and can be resolved with medication and interaction with a health professional.
Good luck
as someone who has done all the prescribed drugs for depression + alcohol & weed for more decades than i care to think about; i wouldn't count on the shrooms for any lasting, meaningful.
relief.
as Newton said: for every action, there's a reaction. IOW, no free lunch.
They sound extremely encouraging. Just don't do the street stuff. Needs to be done within a controlled environment for them to work best. I've not tried them; although I do contemplate taking a spiritual mushroom journey out West. Can't afford Peru.
