CIRCUMCISION ---A totally unnecessary procedure on male babies. Early day Romans were smart in prohibiting the procedure.
I wish I could remember, bit there was some strange upsides
My son was born here in the states in 2010. I didn't even consider it because it should be his choice. There were a couple times he was close to needing it for medical reasons, but he is still in one piece. When his mother and I interviewed pediatricians I asked their opinion and we chose a doctor who understood it wasn't necessary. The doc who said it was necessary wore a big cross around their neck, so go figure.
I'm not in favour of piercing baby's ears either. I don't believe in inflicting unnecessary pain. And ffs, can't we wait until they're old enough to make these decisions for themselves?
When I had my son in the 90's we chose not to circumsize, I didn't get too much pushback. It was mostly from in-laws and family. It's barbaric and I couldn't put my child through that for no good reason. If there was a medical need l wouldn't hesitate to do what's best.
My sons were born in USA, here in UK the practice is not common so I was opposed to it. The hassle I got was unbelievable. I was told I would ruin their future marriages, condemn them to ridicule and break their covenant with god (their dad is Jewish). Neither are religious and although ultimately my youngest boy was circumscised for medical reasons, they are alright. I think chopping original bits off people probably is not a good idea.
