Hard to belive that this is the way math is taught. Common core method is not only confusing but it's actually more work involved. Makes me think about the expression, "work smarter not harder ". I did the math in my head, i multiplied 35 x 10 then i added 70 to the 350 which comes out to 420.

That is such nonsense. I did in my head as well like you. Never seen such crap and I am a total train wreck at maths!

It’s idiocy. What is interesting is how she did 30 x 10 (3 x 1= 3 plus 2 zeroes = 300) compared to 10 x 5 (10 x 5 = 60) instead of (5 x 1 = 5 plus 1 zero). Not consistent. Tsk tsk.

I've always used your same method, even though I didn't learn it in school. It's much easier and faster for me.

Interesting choice of numbers here too.

The answer is "let's just smoke pot."

holy cow...I could have made a complete meal by the time she got an answer...I did it the same way you did...easy peasy...wow

That was very sad.

My kids had to do some weird new method to get estimates and when they did actual math, they got the answers wrong??? I'm okay with being open minded, but math is pretty definitive and not open to interpretation.
