I just read this and I wanted to make others aware of what is happening to the bald eagle and other raptors.

Very sad and unnecessary.

As far as I am aware the use of lead shot was banned in the UK some time ago, but raptors are stilled killed on grouse moors to help maximise the numbers for shooting. Hen harriers are particularly persecuted and a few golden eagles have been killed in recent years.

Living on the Rogue River we watch Bald Eagles and Osprey that fish on the river. There is no detectable difference to the hunter in using steel shot instead of lead. The change needs to be legislated. Lead poisoning effects the whole food chain including humans eating their prey.

That's sad. We have been concerned about our local eagles and although ospreys, herons, cranes and cormorants are plentiful we have yet to get pictures or see any bald eagles.
