I saw a documentary on the lunatic leader of The People's Temple in Guyana who, in 1978, oversaw the murder/suicide of 918 people by forcing them to drink cyanide laced Kool-Aid at gunpoint.
What I found interesting is that Jones was a raging narcissistic personality who demanded absolute control and complete loyalty from those he led. He utilized repetition to normalize insane acts that any stable person would reject as crazy until the lunacy appeared normal to them. He saw himself as above the law and above criticism. He saw himself as the greatest man alive and the alpha-male in charge. He had no faults and was never wrong.
Remind you of anyone?
although jones was a psycho he was charismatic. i don't see any charisma in rump whatsoever.
Sadly, yes. The only positive thing about it, and it's not very positive, is that tRump is under constant scrutiny. Hopefully that is somewhat of a rein on his impulses.
I sometimes wonder why people follow people like Jones, David Koresh, or L. Ron Hubbard but then I remember that I was once part of a cult and I followed without questioning. The cult is bigger this time and is more frightening. Hopefully those people will wise up like I did and accept that they were lied to.
And many cult leaders turn out to be lunatics or maniacs: Jones, Koresh, Manson represent the carnage even a small cult can commit. Leaders of big political cults like: Hitler, Stalin, or Pol Pot can do so much more damage to a lot more people.
And Trump's one of those. I'm thinking the worst is yet to come.
