Even a flat footed clod hopper of a FrayedBear may be tempted to dance if it is this lovely group "Carion Wind Quintet" performing Dmitri Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2

What's a "flat-footed clodhopper of a frayed bear?!?" For that matter, what's a "frayed bear?"

If your eyes are still functioning try using your brains to find out.

Shostakovich is an incredible composer. For those who want more, I would suggest his first piano concerto (also known as the 'concerto for piano, trumpet and string orchestra' ) and his second piano concerto (written to celebrate his son's (Maxim's) 19th birthday and premiered by Maxim himself at the piano).

Please put the links up.

I genuinely believe that the slow, second movement is one of the most beautiful, moving slow movements that exist.

(second movement starts at 6 minutes 40 seconds)

@ToakReon Wonderful - this is what I love about Shostakovich's compositions - they are full of passion and colour.

@FrayedBear Completely agree.

@ToakReon only five minutes worth at 3:30 am has not done me any harm before bed. A lovely rolling gentleness. Thank you for the lovely shares. The third movement starts with a bright gaiety that has put a smile on my lips and tears in my eyes.

Who are they...? Can we give them accreditation please!

It comes up in Youtube and lists each performer. My copy on the phone does not work too well in YouTube.

@FrayedBear I thought that they may have had a collective name.

@Marionville I've edited the post.

@FrayedBear Thank you!
