Who agrees with Trump? Were his tweets lashing out at house resolution condemning his attacks on the "Squad", 4 Democratic congresswomen not racist? I say NFW - THEY WERE RACIST!!!!
The House passed the resolution about tRumps racism. What does he do? He cuddled up to all the tRumpthuglicans who voted against it. Thus proving, tRumpthuglicans are the party of racists!
I do not understand how anyone can be asking this question. He did walk down the escalator and call all people from Mexico bad people. His is a racist, get over it,
The You Tube commentator Sargon of Akkad released a video a few days ago in a misguided attempt to draw attention to the fact that if you take Trumps tweet and deconstruct it word by word, sentence by sentence then it can be read as not racist, which is true.
However there is more to a sentence than the words and letters that make it up.
There is nuance, connotation, cultural reference and context.
The use of the "phrase go back home" or "Go back where you came from" especially in such context is hugely racist, and has a long history in bigotry and prejudice that cannot be denied, not matter how harmless the phrase might be in other circumstance.
I recall having a conversation with my father once about how he had been pushed past by a man in a queue, how the man had been insistent on being served first.
However my father insisted on referring to the rude individual as a black man, an ignorant black B---ard and when I asked what his being black had to do with his rudeness my father very angry and snapped why could he not call the man black when he was?
I asked him to think about if the role was reversed and the the same man had turned on my father and said "Oh excuse me you white man"?
Again Dad said that was typical of a black b--ger being sarcastic, and when asked why he said he has no need to call me a white man it's obvious I'm white.
Finally he stopped and thought about it and said well it was obvious he was black too, but he was very rude.
I don't deny he was rude, all people of all races can be rude and are, the point was being rude AND black some how was worse, because of an assumed superiority by the white man and this required clarification.
I dug a bit further and it seems anyone of colour and oddly Irish people needed this kind of clarification, but not other english speaking races who are primarily white.
My father is only a few years older than Trump and this idea seems ingrained at an almost instinctive level in that generation, to them racism seems inherent.
Most people make an effort to combat this, but some, though not KKK level racist, feel annoyed at being obliged to modify their thinking to the point of being furious and insulted that their "normal" thinking is somehow now offensive.
It is possible Trump actual does not think he was being racist, however on the other hand I call Bull shit on this, he knows exactly what he is doing and saying and is relying on playing to the worst in people to secure the support of like minded people.
I grew up next door to 2 black college professors and their son who was my playmate for a few years. I didn't see my own parents as racist till high school when they turned vs my best friend Maria who was Puerto Rican. My father called her a black basstard. I ended up running away from home and lived with Maria and her cousins in Boston. When I got married a few years later, they would not allow her to be in my bridal party which I know really hurt her. To this day I call out racists for their ignorance.
@sassygirl3869 I agree completely, though I am afraid if my parents had tried to tell me who I could or could not have at my wedding, my parents would have seen me go elsewhere without them and have my wedding surrounded by the people I wanted there and not those deemed by others "acceptable".
@LenHazell53 I wish I had been brave enough at that time. I was abused by my parents physically and emotionally and it wasn't till after my divorce at 38 that I stood up for myself and civil rights of others. Wish it had happened sooner.
Trump always lies
Actually I have heard him say something that was true. So far my count is about 3 for the truth and the rest too numerous to count for false.
The only people who would believe he is not racist are the same ones who believe he is a “stable genius”.
Totally agree.
