The same is true in the UK...they did a documentary about the fruit and veg growing areas of Kent and Lincolnshire. When the EU pickers (mostly from Romania and Hungary) stop being allowed in, we will have crops and fruit rotting in the fields because the farmers can’t get local English people to work at picking them. They followed some new ones who had been sent from the government Job Centres...just like your statistics, some didn’t even turn up and those that did lasted only a day or two. I don’t even think higher wages would make Brits do this picking, it’s too much like hard work!

To be fair, have you ever done that work. Back breaking is not a euphemism. The conditions are literally brutal.

@OpposingOpposum No I haven’t...and that is my point. It’s hard and backbreaking work...we should be grateful that immigrants are willing to do the job...because we don’t want to.

My ex sister in law and her husband had a farm and they could only ever get "migrant" workers to help. They all lived in one disgusting building with no relief against the summer heat. They worked so hard just to send money home to family still across the boarder. They went back after the growing season or else on to another place. Our heartlessness at their plight and the lies we tell to make them look like the bad ones are disgusting.

While it is true that no jobs are being taken by migrants, it still disturbs me that they are willing to work in difficult conditions for lower pay to have a "better" life for themselves and their families...

Think about that...they are willing to do what Americans are not and it is still considered "better"...that is a very sad statement on how we treat them...

Hard workers that probably appreciate our country more than many of our own...

There are a group of them that live in a tiny house on my way to work...so they share expenses so they can feed their families...they are legal...all with work visas...but soon, they will return home for the winter...they remind me each day I come to work how fortunate we really are...

Yeah very sad 😢situation

Are you calling the story bullshit or the claim that jobs are being taken by illegals?

Their claims on jobs being taken

@bobwjr Thought so, just wanted to be sure. It is an old racist trope and what you say holds true, it has always been the case that the motivated immigrant is willing to do the shit job at starvation wages so his children will not have to, a situation that might be remedied if employers were not allowed to pay exploitative wages to ANYONE to do those jobs, let alone the desperate.
