Must have been exciting times with politicians of calibre, unlike the modern day toads!
Right they thought of the country first
I also like/concur with this quote from him: "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide."
I had never heard this quote before and I thought I had heard them all. Thank you for posting this.
Unfortunately... It is very true! Ancient Rome is but one example.
india was founded on hindu beliefs and theyve been going for 3,500 years or so
Yes, and there are over 30 million Hindu gods. I will admit that from my learning I also like Ganesha
@gsiamne gods in hinduism are nothing like gods in abrahamic religions. they are more like role models. not really mystic.
@JeffMesser Totally concur!
I think the Hindu religion goes back some 9000 years or more, predating the end of the last ice age. Although evolving throughout its history.
Religions are very interesting things to look at through psychology and sociological sciences.
@Sofabeast couldnt agree more. it fascinates me.
You might want to check your understanding of India's history and governance. They have only been a democracy since the late 1940s. Prior to that, they were a British colony. Britain unified a large number of autonomous principalities. Definitely not democratic. At the time of the founding of the Indian nation, the two predominant religions were Hindu and Muslim. A partitioning resulted in the separation of what is now Pakistan on the west and Bangladesh on the east. There are many more religions in India and currently disputed territory in Kashmir. @Max2Tucker you might want to check your own understanding of hinduism. after the synthesis (500 BCE) it incorporates any other religion within its' fold.
