They want to do to make a statement and satisfy their progressive base that Democrats they elected are not lame duck. The base is crying out for impeachment. The members of Congress know fully well it is not going anywhere. It is all political positioning before 2020.

Pelosi's wisdom is not working. Democrats are looking weak and Trump is winning now and will win in 2020. There is nothing Pelosi can do to win now or prevent Trump from winning in 2020. Pelosi has been around for 40 years and we have seen terrible defeats under her watch. She did nothing to prevent Hillary Clinton's terrible loss. She has become a career Washington insider. We need a younger and energetic House Speaker and other leaders who do less friction and more agreement. I am tired of seeing her plastic, fake smile and animated walking on the stage. She does nothing to inspire democrats. In Boris Johnson's terms.... she is like a sadistic nurse in a mental hospital.

I agree with you. What bugs me the most is Trump haters are just one sided. They hate everything on the other side and cannot find anything good. A smart human being learns from the enemy. We also ignore how bad our side is and what our failures have been. Hillary lost miserably, was a terrible candidate who let us down in spite of huge fund raising, massive volunteers working for her on the ground and after good, honest 8 years of Obama, she wasted it all... But you will not hear it from progressives. A balanced view is not our forte. We do not realize how stupid we look.

Trumpism will only go away when Americans get bored of it (or if the economy crashes and Trump is unable to effectively pin it on someone/something else). Hating it, pointing out lies, corruption, and incompetence isn't moving the needle any. A huge number of Americans simply don't care, for many different reasons.

After a political event, the takeaway that people remember is who won and who lost. Strategists on both sides and political pundits may do the analysis but voters and people in general don't. They will vote on issues and personalities but are watching everything.

After Clinton, we found out in spite of Clinton abusing the sanctity of the Oval Office and lying under oath, people were angry that republicans pursued the vindictive investigations and impeachment for too long instead of doing people's business.

I believe, voters are again angry with Washington and it will add votes to Trump in 2020.

Trump's campaign fed research to a foreign power which then interfered in our election, basically cheating on his behalf. He wouldn't be president except for that. Since when he has cozied up to the head of that power on every opportunity.

Can we say both did wrong to the nation? Ii is not right to underplay our mistakes. Do you not think that fixing our house on fire should be our priority instead of laughing at the paint of the neighbor's house? When we go to war, we do not ridicule and laugh at the enemy. We prepare to win. What I see now that we have weak and frail generals against Trump who will destroy all Democratic 2020 candidates.

Reagan should have been convicted in the Iran/Contra mess.
George H W Bush was complicit in that scandal as well as drug smuggling from South America and was saved by non other than William Barr.

George W Bush with the help of Cheney lied us into a war and ordered to commission torture and other war crimes.

Obama’s drone war and the execution of an American citizen without a trial could certainly be investigated.

Democrats have better ideas for the nation but are such bad performers. Democrats have become this elite, nerdish, policy and bookish people that we have forgotten how to connect with people. We have the same old, bald, spectacled Washington insiders running for offices for decades, the same people become advisors, think tank experts, ambassadors, lobbyists... the same boring and failed people.

@TheMiddleWay This makes sense. I find many that believe if Bernie was POTUS tomorrow we would all instantly be socialist. This is either ignorance or someone trying to protect Trump in ways that only Trump's gaslighting brings to fore. In my view Trump wants you to hate the other party. This is his brand of unity and goes along with his following. When Reagan said "Make America Great Again" it did not work that way.
