How did you originally fall for religion and what convinced you to think WTF....for me I got kicked into religion and Sunday school by my mother until we got to job which sounded like jobby which is a Scottish shit and I laughed so hard that I got barred from Sunday service so, well was just not interested enough...so my godless soul is going to make vodka stronger...I have been told this by a vodka alki....lol
Kids find anything to do with bodily functions funny. I still remember singing in Sunday school some psalm or other and the words were " the angel of the lord came down and filled the plains with light" and my mate whispered in my ear "and filled the plains with shite". Of course I got the giggles and was ejected from the choir. Happy days.
I was about 9...my family made me walk down a couple of blocks and go to church. It never seemed odd to me at the time that THEY never went. It was just something they told me to do...so, I did it.
Because I had a good memory for recitation of bibble verses...the church members really liked me and had me stand up and PARROT bible verses on appropriate holidays, etc. I was a ''golden child."
Then...one day, the minister called me out--cruelly and SNEERINGLY--because I had put my bible on the floor. (There were no spare chairs! I was doing something on my lap....) Anyhow, he stood up, used his MINISTERIAL voice and told everyone to look at this girl who thought so little of her bible that she put it on the floor! I was a child...instead of using his Christian kindness to take me aside and gently instruct me....he wanted to use his power to humiliate and expose me!
I never went back. The family went crazy but I never went back. It was a good lesson on how Xtians just LOVE to humble/humiliate/punish.
