I'm rewatching the Hulu show Letterkenny. I can't help it, I find it hilarious and need some mindless laughs after the real world trauma of the past week.
Watching the first episode and seeing the youth group meeting at the "Burning Bush" with the sexually suggestive way one of the "nice Christian girls" greet the main character reminded me of my own experiences in church camp. The homophobia, coupled with the way the closeted pastor strong-armed a young girl's sexuality on stage reminded me of what happens when anyone acted upon all those God-given hormones in a "christian environment."
"What the actual fuck is this place?"
My church camp girlfriend is married with children now. One of my best friends from camp is on fentanyl. I'm an atheist who keeps saying "weeelll, technically I'm an agnostic because, really who knows, right?"
So what if the pastor is bi and all the "good Christian boys" are on Grindr. More power too 'em.
...
So, I have to figure that if you are reading this you are no longer practicing that Ol' Tyme Religion.
What, if anything, do you miss?
Be honest, y'all ... even if it's ... sexual.
Love Letterkenny. Now I'm off to hoover some shneef.
