Convenient one-stop shopping
I remember working for 7-11, in the mid 1960s. We sold little tiny .22 caliber revolvers. "Saturday night special".

I work in a wine/liquor store. It used to be really upper end stuff, but the new owner really doesn't give a crap and now stocks lotsa junk. One of the things he brought in was a little display of ultra poor quality cheap Chinese pocket knives. It sat right next to the checkout counter. One night a young man was fiddling with one of the knives and said, "Aren't you worried I will use this knife to rob you?" I told him only an idiot brings a knife to a gun fight.

He laughed.

I stared.

He laughed nervously.

I stared.

He left.

There’s a similar store in Big Timber, Montana - with a billboard on the interstate.

I know several people who believe the Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store rather than a government agency.

I lived two blocks from the Radio Shack that gave you a gun, when you bought a satellite system from them.

Wow--that is a blast from the past !
Amazing that one could go to a 7/11 to buy a Saturday night special !
It really was the wild west there then. I hadn't heard of that before.
