With attitudes like this I don't know why the Welsh, like the Dodo, are not extinct! Bloody wowsers.
UK seaside town tries to quench hot passions with water-spraying anti-sex toilets [rt.com]
Obviously Porthcawl has not got behind the plans elsewhere in Wales to eliminate homelessness.
Add to wowsers "heartless selfish bastards"!
The Welsh are not extinct because their men are so hot! Some of them. And that accent. i could listen to it all day.
Have you read the full specs? Please do before you quote RT, who as usual are "stirring".

Ah interesting. So they have "rough sleepers" too.
Our public toilets just aren't generally big enough for that- Sleeping I mean - I've seen people have sex in Porta-Potties - you end up with a face peering into yours.
But in some tourist places they might be large enough to sleep on the floor? So I can see why this becomes a problem, (And heated in the Winter too).
Spaying occupants with water though - really? OMG.... that's just absurd. i mean what if they get it WRONG?
That's where I see an issue. For the handicapped or folks with kids. They need to be able to ring a bell and indicate who they are - and check in or something so they don't trigger that mechanism. I stand by what I said - that would be awful.
Also I bet there's a large segment of the adult population who has done this.... rofl.... Is this the new "Mile High Club" to be taken away"?
Okay the water spraying is for cleaning purposes I think. I've heard of toilets that do that before.
I actually approve of that.
However the doors opening due to violent motion? That's a show stopper of another kind - as the disabled person who falls often commented.
There is more than one reason to rock in a bathroom - I can just see the sensors going off and opening the doors exposing someone with children (scarring them for life) or a handicapped person.
Totally ridiculous. When my Mom was in a wheelchair I often had to accompany her into a bathroom. And I can just see the motions of a wheelchair transfer being "read" as sex. FFS.
Heck use a camera on people going in if need be and question them later if you think they spent too long in one... rofl - but this is ridiculous. Or you know a microphone outside and a camera. That would be less invasive than opening the damn doors. Make people flash ID at a manned camera for entrance - that should work too. (Heck I'd do that.).
Maybe rather than investing in such expensive toilets they could have put a few beat cops on.
People are gonna find places to have illicit sex. It's just people.
Silly humans!
See my comment, with a link to a less "stir things" bias than RT, which tends to fall into the same "one-sided" news category as US broadcasters.
@Petter you love to dig at RT. I see above you link us to a BBC report on the proposed toilets. Here is the first paragraph of that report with the words in bold letters the same as in the report!
"Public toilets planned for a seaside town will include design features aimed at deterring vandalism, rough sleepers and sexual activity." BBC 08/2019.
Spraying water did not work on tomcats in heat. Why should it work on humans? And who has sex in public toilets except Republican policians and tele- evangelists? Sounds like the planning board was under the spell of a good plumbing sales person.

@FrayedBear Note the OTHER design objectives mentioned. RT only plays on the one aspect. Can you not see their insiduous intent? It is NOT balanced news reporting.
@Petter Very unbalanced they fail to report the design features to prevent the homeless from sleeping there (what happens if you fall asleep sitting on the toilet simply because you are very tired?) or the cost saving of housing them?
But there again I fail to see how homelessness balances out coitus in the public toilet.
Unbalanced is the fact that the report fails to identify how much is spent on installing these features compared with providing a homeless person housing, teenagers sex education, contraception and a safe place to have sex where participants cannot be accused of public indecency.
I'm sure that doors that open unanounced are a breach of human rights and privacy laws let alone intended to cause a breach of the peace.
@FrayedBear You are digressing again. Have you ANY idea of what plans the council has for social housing? Yet you immediately assume none and link them to PLANS for new public toilets in a TOURIST destination.
Then you assume UK teenagers are not sex-educated, etc. For the record, it is compulsory for ALL UK schools to give sex education lessons, even in primary schools. Religion is not an excuse! The lessons become more detailed as children become older. Every child is vaccinated against HPV, initially it was only girls but now it is also boys. Contraceptives are easily available, subsidised or even free, and well publicised. Read this information before ranting on whilst uninformed.

I fear you have yourself started to "spin" stories, just like RT, in your haste to defend them.
Anti-sex toilets??? Never heard of anti-sex toilets. So, who has sex with toilets??? (Sounds kinda dangerous!).
Depends on whether you leave the lid up or down doesn't it?
Wow! That would be incredibly invasive for people with kids or disabilities.
Is that filed under bestiality or incest?

@LenHazell53 Eliminated! The phone wasn't reacting, so I pressed submit again.

@FrayedBear See my answer to your naive attempt to justify RT's biased reporting in the comments above this one.
