Awrh, hedgie! She's adorable.
I have a cat--a giant fuzzball full of love and not much brains, who runs everywhere and seriously underestimates his own size sometimes. I'd have more animals, but he's all we have room for in this wee apartment. I could conceivably keep just about any pet except birds. I can't get into living with birds. They're pretty, but every domestic avian I've ever met has been deafeningly shrill.
I am terrified of birds.
I don’t love animals, but I respect their right to live and I refuse to hunt animals w/o need. I have a fat tomcat.
I have 5 rescue cats. I get along fine with most animals except dogs and anything with more than 4 legs that moves into my apartment.
I avoid snakes, and I'm reasonably sure they appreciate that.
Cat...she's kept me sane through hard times
but I have had many types of animal, I love my photography, especially macro..so insects etc..I see beauty in their complexity..I can marvel at a fly....though..er..I hate earwigs(I'd cause no harm though..unless they went in my ear(I know this isnt true lol))
Big animal enthusiast. Have a beautiful German Shepherd named "Sassy" and a cat named Zeus. First time I've only had one of each. Love horses-had one at fifteen and still love to ride. Favorite wild animals are locally deer, bear, wolves (had a dog that was part wolf) foxes, raccoons. Jungle animals include big cats: lions, tigers, leopards and zebra.
Two cats, brother and sister. Sammy chased his sister off because he is jealous and he is bigger. Normally a male wouldn't chase a female away, but they are fixed. He is big and keeps all the cats away. We also have wild friends, several deer and at least one racoon. Birds live nearby, but the cats are hard on them, but mice would inundate us except for the cats. A bluejay stayed with us for a couple of weeks, regardless of the cats, lost the pic.
I love animals. I have an affinity for the animals that are maligned out of fear: snakes, bats, and spiders especially.
As far as pets, I stick to the traditional because it's hard to find vets that can care for the exotics. So animals other than dogs, my preference, and cats, I prefer them in the wild.
Here's a photo of a timber rattlesnake I rescued. I wouldn't want one as a pet though.
1 x husky, 3 x guinea pigs, 2 x quails, 2 x Giant African land snail, 1 x Tourtoise, 1 x cat. Plus a garden full of wild birds and a family of semi tame squirrels. So yeah, I love animals
I have never seen a "giant African land snail", reminds me of Dr. Doolittle. I `m going to google them.
@pthomas59 He wouldn't be able to push Chomp, our African Spurred Tortoise. He weighs about 50KG! Might be able to ride on him though. NB just to confuse everybody, over here in Blighty we have three classifications for turtle. 'Turtle' is used for aquatic species, usually those with with flippers. Terrapin is what we call small amphibious types with webbed feet and Tortoise for land living species. Although Teenage Mutant Ninja Tortoises dosn't have quite the same ring to it
You have a hedgehog? That is a first to my ears. Good for you !
Honestly... is the other way around... animals love me. Can't say why.
@pthomas59 Isn't that something? I was visiting a female friend in Gainesville and she took me to her son property with a bunch of watch dogs... they barked at her and demanded "lovies" from me all 5 or 6 of them... they just wanted to be pat by me. Your son is blessed by mother nature. They identified their own. My sister has 3 chihuahuas and the fat one has adopted me.
I've got one dog named Chewy, and a cat named Button that live inside my home.
Both of these were found and really needed help so I gave it to them. Outside I have about six cats that I did not ask for but because I feed them they are considered mine. I also feed one possum and several racoons.Spay and neuter. Animals are just wonderful.
Definitely! I kid people that I have an "Elly May complex" (a reference to The Beverly Hillbillies). I love critters and they seem to know it. I carry dog and horse treats with me at work. I can be a bit cold to people (working on this), but I bond with animals almost immediately. I had lots of pets as a kid and was always bringing a new "pet" home (spiders, snakes, mice, strays). I was a bane to my strict Bostonian stepfather who was repelled by anything that crawled. My part Haudenosaunee mother helped me hide them! I have especially come to appreciate the amazing similarity in psychology between higher animals and people, and their ability to acquire a rudimentary understanding of language.
Ruby is cute!
