If only all Christians were nominal!
It's those Christians who read the book that are a problem.
I wondered about that and was afraid to say it because it seems so extreme. Like Trump, I would think Bolsonaro is more criminal than religious. But I guess crime and religion can use each other well these days. Well, not just these days, I guess they always did.

I was raised with this type of mentality. There is no need to protect the environment because their god will make it last just as long as he wants/needs it to. And, all the catastrophes etc. are just prophecies being fulfilled. Those who think this way are an absolute threat to humanity.

That was definitely the view of my old buddies, the Jehovah's Witnesses. The scripture behind this view was this:
“[God will] bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”—REVELATION 11:18.
So there is no need to help the environment at all. It might even be construed as a lack of faith. But I'm sure there's definitely nothing in scripture that says Christians should help the destruction along to bring about the 'new earth'.
@brentan Ah, but the faster they bring it about, the sooner those they don't like are gotten rid of (meaning me and you and the rest of us here), the faster they can start living their 1000 years of peace, and the faster the world gets fixed. Many of these people are convinced we are living in the end times NOW and that it's just a matter of time. Granted, they have been saying that for the last couple of millennium but hey, who's counting?
