I was away at the weekend and missed this ....hope he had a great Birthday! Oh...lovely pics. btw!
Great looking young man. Happy Birthday to Roark! (love that name)
Thanks. I named him after Howard Roark, in The Fountainhead. I read it through my liberal non conformist world view, not Ayn Rand's. So saw it as a man who defies the status quo and is true to himself. I called him Coral and my doctor told me a month before he was definitely a boy. I didnt believe it, but was reading the book so it was the back up.name
@gigihein Roark is a very cool name, and I remember loving it also when I read the book. My son's name is Vincent, named after his grandfather. I do love that name too.
You and I share something. I was absolutely POSITIVE my son was going to be a girl named Maureen Emily. I barely thought about boys' names. At that time there were no tests, so I was completely shocked when they said "it's a boy".......And he turned out to be a damn good one!
Time Flies while You Adore Your Loved Ones!
I thought we were the only ones who named a cat Mellow. She's a tri-color and very talkative. Happy Birthday to him.
Yes. They grow up quickly. I was told by someone years ago to enjoy the time with my children as you only have 18 summers with them. The time went so fast. It was great. It is so gratifying to see them as confident successful people now isn’t it?
Yes, it is...
Oh boy... that is so true, Science-Guy. When they're children you know everything about them... what they had for breakfast, who their friends are, their likes and dislikes, what happened during their day... and suddenly they're adults. My son is 41 now and recently married.
I told him once... "As you get older you will develop your own separate life, and your Dad and I will move a little off center of yours. But as your parents you will always remain right there in the center of ours." I still have to restrain myself from buying him Star Wars toys and call him to remind him to take an umbrella when it's raining .
@TheoryNumber3 Yes, being young adults now and having a granddaughter still has me in their world.
@gigihein That's coming soon, I hope. My son was married in May
Happy Birthday! He's a good looking young man.
Aw thanks. When he was in second grade, we had just moved to Georgia. From Montessori to public school. The teacher asked the kids whose birthday they were celebrating on the winter vacation. my son put his hand up and said it was his mom's birthday. the teacher said No that it was Jesus birthday. He asked who that was, and she said the son of god. His response was, "Uh, you guys know this god thing is just a theory. So he would fit right in here.
Nice photo of your son with Mellow the cat ... they both seem to be deeply focused on a computer.
