Robert Mugabe dies at age 95. the man who ruined a great country through greed, corruption, and incompetence.
Sadly his successor is not much better.

In time it might be Donald. I reserve my remark that "it could not have happened to a nicer man."

Colonialism and apartheid may not have been ... but at least everyone could sleep safely and had food to eat ... Mugabe stripped the country to profit himself and his cohorts ... one of whom is the new despot.
There are times I hope hell exists ... just for those like Mugabe

I'm not sure everyone had a place to sleep and something to eat during apartheid plus I remember quite a bit of violence.

@Lorajay The violence of Mugabes' forces against his opponents led to thousands of deaths ... the theft of farms from white farmers led directly to starvation .... nothing comparable or as widespread happened under apartheid

@Lorajay Rhodesia certainly had white minority rule but did not have apartheid like South Africa. I am sure the majority of the indigenous population wanted self determination but not the horror of Mugabe's reign

If you Americans are lucky Trump will only last to ninety four.

If he has his way after his next term in office he will emulate Xi in China and be president for life. For the sake of the Americam public let's hope it is a short one.

It’s a pity he couldn’t have done his country a favour and died decades ago.

His initial leadership showed promise - few remember. White farmers stayed and he pushed health and educational reform. Then, he became more and more tyrannical, nstigating revolt and his excuses for severe crackdowns and the country's crashed economy.

@Beowulfsfriend clinging on to power seems to be the fatal flaw in all of these demagogues.

@Beowulfsfriend And the other heads of state in Africa kept supporting him despite his despotic rule. I suppose they had to as they could not be seen to besupporting a white colonial rule
