It's taken me a long time to learn, after years of trying to "reason away" my feelings, that's it's okay and even healthy to have an emotional reaction. It's not healthy though to obsess about it and it's not okay to automatically act out on it -- it's allowing the feeling while figuring out if you need to take action and what appropriate action to take, or just to give it space, go on with your life and allow it to leave when it's ready to.

Yes. That breathing and allowing things to pass can be very beneficial. I am not great at it but I am learning. Nice post.

Suppressing your emotions seems more detrimental than exposing them. I’d suggest speaking your mind - and choosing your battles..
