It's interesting to me that most women will agree that sexual orientation is a continuum while most men (especially American men) will, if asked, hem and haw about it. The last time I posting something like this, only women responded, and the responses from men were conspicuously absent. Just wanted to see if anything has changed regarding this evidently touchy situation. Personally, I'll be the first to agree that sexual orientation exists on a continuum and that almost no one (male or female) is 100% heterosexual or homosexual. That's a difficult thing for many men to admit. Women can "get away" with being sexually fluid, but--in this society--men are not given that same license.

It is my experience that I do not think about this. I like women and have never thought of doing anything with a man. Any questions, I will try to answer.

in a way i think sexuality has really become less restrictive for us younger guys, at the same time there is more and more pressure to be "gender normed" eg use hormones or surgery to attain stereotypical het relationships

i read somewhere, long ago, in some learned psychology study, that we are all at least naturally bisexual, but social pressures limit same sex physical interactions ... maybe a different result now

"Most women will agree that sexual orientation is a continuum."

How many women did you interview before arriving at this conclusion?

@Winkiedink54

You made an assumption about women based on a small sample.

As an intelligent women, I realize sexuality is on a wide continuum like personality traits.

@Winkiedink54

I feel irritated when people stereotype women and minorities. As a woman, I have been stereotyped, ignored and discounted my entire professional life.

@Winkiedink54

Thank you.

@Winkiedink54, @LiterateHiker some people just like to argue.

I do not think I saw your previous post, but had i, I would have likely agreed that it is so.
It would seem in our society women are given outs on "pure" femininity. We allow for Tomboys, and girlygirls and other variations, and then i know of many men that refuse to "really" believe in Lesbians. The possibility is largely ignored.
Men on the other hand are "real" men or effeminate. You are one of the "guys" or you are gay.

I had to struggle with this limited mindset as i grew up, I knew I was not the same as many of the other guys, but at the same time, i knew i was precociously attracted to women. It made for a painful struggle to understand where I stood. My education had been that being gay was something that men did, was disreputable and disgusting. I am glad my understanding and perceptions have changed.

I’m honest with myself and others, if to a fault, and have never had the desire to get with another man.. There are men I admire, but it goes no further.

I'll answer. Not all men, but, you are correct that more women than men are accepting. I know of no studies to confirm, but agree with your assessment for an eye test.
