Hi Everyone. I have just joined this group and I am not sure it is the right place for me. I seems a bit young and a bit American. I am interested in moral philosophy and baroque music. Should I go elsewhere?

Depends. There are a number of British and Australian people here, and many of them have classical tastes.

You'll earn points and people can get to know you better if you write your profile and answer the profile questions.

If you've "just joined", it seems rather premature to draw conclusions.
The ages of members range quite widely. Many of us are over 50.
We also have members from the UK, as well as other parts of the world.
What you "should" do is entirely up to you, of course. You are the only one who
can decide if this site is 'right' for you.
That said, welcome to the asylum. Enjoy your stay.

I love classical, especially the Baroque and Late-Romantic periods. Of Baroque I'm mainly into solo keyboard and guitar: Weiss, Losy, Visee, Bach, Handel, Sanz, Scarlatti. Here's a performance of a wonderful work by one one the lesser known Baroque composers, Jan Antonin Losy, of which, to my knowledge, there is not yet a commercial recording of.

Thank you for your kind responses. I shall certainly stay with you and hope to join in some interesting discussions. In answer to a few questions/remarks, I am 74, and a practising atheist. I come from a long line of atheists/freethinkers. I need to spend some time getting to know this site and finding out what has already been discussed so I shall come back soon and maybe put out a few feelers for discussion.

Not young, but thanks for saying so 🙂. I enjoy Baroque Music, though am far from being one of the cognicenti. I'm Australian but have argued with people from most of the former British Empire on this site. I've only met one real arsehole and he was a Christian trying troll the atheists. My experience here has been that people usually argue politely and in good faith.

I don't have a particular love for baroque music, but I do enjoy classical and particularly opera. It's thrilling live and I go to every one I can in my area. So far I've seen: Madame Butterfly, Fidelio, Die Fledermaus, The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, and Carmen.

I suspect that the reason this site has so many Americans is that it's easier to avoid vocal Christians in other (English-Speaking) parts of the world - especially Europe.

I would love for you to explain the connection between moral philosophy and baroque music. 🙂

Well, I dabble In and enjoy baroque music. I was a church pipe organist and minister of music who eventually ate the apple from the tree of knowledge and discovered the all too many parallell deity myths throughout history. The cover was blown for me after 12
Years of parochial school. I’m new here too. I’ll give this site some time. There really is nobody with similar views to talk to in my circle of friends other than 1
Other lawyer who flies below the radar for
Political reasons.

I'll take that "a bit young and a bit American" as a compliment.
