If there really were a god, we would feel compelled to hold him accountable, not only for his lack of clear and truthful communication, but for his complete indolence in the face of evil and suffering.
I think this is a great point, that authorities need to be held accountable to the people they serve - and one that christians cannot contemplate without fear or anxiety or guilt or dismissal. One of the central ideas in christianity is that you can never question god and that he is never wrong.
