GORINCHEM, Netherlands — In France, a visit to the doctor typically costs the equivalent of $1.12. A night in a German hospital costs a patient roughly $11. And in the Netherlands — insurers usually must cover all medical care after the first 385 euros, roughly $431.
i could never understand how or why americans just acquiesced while greed infested & destroyed their way of life.
probably the trickle-down affect. no doubt many are still waiting for it.
I ended up in the hospital in Hungary for 5 days. Since I am not an EU member my insurance had to pay $834 for 5 days 17 bags of fluid, 2 EKGs and three sonograms. I felt the care was appropriate though not like luxurious. I shared a room with three to four other people and I had to provide mine own drinking water towel eating utensils and toilet paper. The only real discomfort I had was the first night when I didn't know I was supposed to bring my own toilet paper but the kindness of strangers saved the day. Hospital should be forgetting well not for a vacation. I am sad that America puts profit before people in this area and many others.
