Great. Hemant is there and I see Tracie Harris has re-emerged since leaving the Atheist Experience. She is talented and has such a good logical mind. I'm glad she is still involved in atheism and freethought.

Wow. I drove to Lexington today for different reasons then back to Cincinnati. Did I miss much?

tbh, one might obtain much of the content through video, blogs etc of the speakers involved. Peasant enough, hangin' with all the nice secular folks. Overall, would do again.

@CapriKious Yeah, it’s not my kind of thing anyway. I’m all for folks getting together, it’s just not my scene.

@indirect76 It is pretty peripheral for me as well. The after party would have been better for me, but long day, blah, blah

@CapriKious I went to an old ex’s karaoke party. No one talked about religion and that good enough for me.

Hey, this would have been a perfect post for "Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana & Tennessee" , preferably a few days ago. I only just now saw it and it's today. Oh well. Next time then.

You are right of course. Small groups, too few people handling too many things at once.
No doubt they thought of it, but did not find time to post here. I had bought advance tickets months ago and only recalled Monday that i was to go on Sat. I might have posted myself, but busy.

Yea, same here. I just saw this today but I was like damn, I was free that day too.

I'm betting there will be religious groups nearby, trying to save the souls of those who attend.

Didn't see any of that. I think it all went under the radar.

Doubt it. Lexington is fairly secular for being in the middle of KY. It’s a bit like Austin TX.

@indirect76 I never been to Austin, but that is the impression I get.

Looks like fun, hope you have a great day.

Enjoyed Hemant Mehta's presentation.
Lunch break just now.
Looking forward Tracie Harris and Andrew Seidel!

That would be fun!

With Moscow Mitch didn't know they still believe in that

Like anywhere else, there is diversity here.

@DharmaBum50 yeah but not enough of you

@bobwjr I won't dispute that.

I’m scared of Kentucky. After all, they have been voting for Moscow Mitch for ages. But enjoy!

That's painting with a rather broad brush. The last time McConnell was up in 2014, yes, he won handily, but in saying you're "scared of Kentucky" because "they" have been voting for Moscow Mitch, you're lumping the 584,698 of us who DIDN'T vote for him last time in with that stereotype. Like anywhere else, we have a diverse population--not everyone here is a bible-thumping hillbilly any more than everyone in California is gay or everyone in New York State is an obnoxious urbanite.

@DharmaBum50 don’t get your dander up, I was kidding.

The cities (Lexington, Louisville, Covington & Newport) are pretty secular actually. I’ve been a lifelong atheist in KY with little to no issue. It’s fairly nice here.

@indirect76 My last company had a location in Covington which I visited regularly. I think you must live a sheltered life because there were a lot of Mitch McConnell types there who would spout the religious right party line ala the kids who showed up in Washington with the MAGA hats and harassed the native elder. But I understand defending your state so it’s all good.

@Killtheskyfairy Perhaps I’m lucky. Maybe it’s the industry I’m in. It could be just having a different perspective or opinion on some things.

For example, I would not describe what happened with the Covington Catholic kids as harassment.

Sure, there are probably those types out there in the state. I just don’t see them very much for whatever reason. I have atheist parents, brother, two best friends and numerous other associates that have little to no issue as well. Perhaps they are just lucky too.

Wish I could be there.

I was planning on being there. Work and some other things changed my plans for me. Enjoy it!
