Interesting Things That Don't Exist Physically -
Language is imaginary. People write things down about it, which we all more or less agree upon about it, for a while, but it's really all imaginary - we just carry it around in our heads, using it upon each other, as if it were real.
You... are imaginary... Your body is real - It's alive, walking around, consuming and controlling things within its reach, but YOU, as you think you are conscious of yourself floating around somewhere within that body... you're just a figment of your imagination... and the more new people you meet, the more version of yourself you create, in other people's heads.
Everybody who thinks they know you, only knows a set of impressions they have associated with the presence of your body, which they store in their memories. But if you ask 10 people to describe YOU accurately and compare those descriptions with your own description of yourself - you will find that nobody really knows you very well... and sometimes, even you are not so sure yourself.
Love... is not real. No scientific instrument in all the world has the capability to sense, locate, identify, quantify, or qualify LOVE. It is entirely imaginary.
Love is an imaginary ILLUSION, produced by the cumulative effects of physical, chemical, and psychological responses in our bodies, amplified by our cumulative enjoyment, memories, and imaginary emotional glorification of these combined experiences IN OUR BRAINS.
If you work it, the illusion of love will grow, at least in YOUR mind, but ONLY... for as long as you BELIEVE in it, and WANT it. But it's hard to tell about the object of your affections. Maybe, maybe not. But make no mistake - Love is completely imaginary... it isn't real.
But, those of us who LIKE certain imaginary things, and ESPECIALLY our EXPERIENCES, and our continued development, and expertise, with our GROWING knowledge, skills, and focus within the realm of love... well... let's just say... we BELIEVE in love. Because, for US, LOVE is where LIFE is.
You know?
No don't agree, love can not be none existent , because as you say, " produced by the cumulative effects of physical, chemical, and psychological responses in our bodies." And the cumulative effects of physical, chemical, and psychological responses in our bodies, are real, therefore love is real, what you mean is that our mistaken 'idea' of love is not real, but that is quite a different thing.
And that does mater because there are quite a lot of things we commonly use which really do not exist except as ideas in that sense, for example, heritage, culture, art, society, religion of course, nation states, family, pain, pleasure, money, value, inches, pints, memberships, etc. yet they all represent something that is real.
@adaptable1958 Yes but there are two different levels of organization devised by the mind, because many of our imaginary systems are not real but are metaphors for things which are real, like love, money and inches, but some are metaphors for things like god and art which are not real in any sense. It is important not to mix the two up.
@adaptable1958 It is not easy to tell the two apart. Love for example is as said, " produced by the cumulative effects of physical, chemical, and psychological responses in our bodies." . And so likewise is pain, so here is a simple experiment. Go to church sit in a pew for half an hour and pray to the imaginary god that one of your arms should fall off. Then go home put your gas stove on, turn the flame well up and lay your hand on top of it for half an hour, it will not hurt since pain is imaginary, if god and pain are both the same you should still have two working hands.
