Heroes!!!!
On Monday, Greta Thunberg and 15 other young people filed a potentially world-changing lawsuit. On an abnormally steamy day in New York, when sweat built on the brows of the dark-suited diplomats funneling into the United Nations for a major climate summit, the group of teens cranked up the heat even further.
They announced that they’re suing five of the world’s major carbon polluters on the grounds that the countries are violating their rights as children. If the suit is successful, the United Nations would classify the climate crisis as a children’s rights crisis.
Why did Greta Thunberg talk to the council of world leaders impolitely, condescendingly, arrogantly?
Who is she to come and tell world leaders to ask ... how dare you? How does she know what it takes for the world to come together and act together? Does she understand the complexities?
Obviously she is not taught about the dept and complexities of the process and challenges because she not not mature enough. It is not easy as coming in a fancy, comfortable yacht and doing press conferences in 5 start hotels.
She should go back to school and finish to learn how the UN works and how to address world leaders first.
STOP THIS FREAK SHOW
Where are these immediate challenges on the priority list? Are they even urgent?
Do we even know that drinking water is an urgent need in the world and people are dying every day for the lack of it? Here... these are world's 10 biggest and most dire problems, Pollution is just one - one of them = [borgenproject.org]. It is not the biggest.
I am aware of the climate change challenge but not sure it is above all these issues.The above is killing human beings in scores each day. We should talk about all. It seems that we all have forgotten about the poor and starving suddenly. Why is Greta Thurnberg not in school?
This reminds me of promoting the game of golf when poor children don't have a freaking old, worn out ball and a ground to play on.
Do we start dancing up and down as the fancies rise and die? What is for tomorrow, saving Mars?
If climate change is not dealt with urgently, the other crisis you mention will be irelevent because we will all be dead in short you are an idiot.
@LenHazell53
It is incorrect. Everything will be relevant and matter today, tomorrow, day after as long as we are alive, children will matter, violence against mothers will happen. Your attitude is typical of rich and self obsessed people and nations, malaria is not our problem but diabetes is. Violence against children is not our problem but cruelty against pets is, random and violent rapes and killing of mothers in war torn zones is not our problem but yes, the MeeToo problem is a very very big problem. I get it.
You are a fucking fake compassion jerk. In short, If you don't understand what that is read above again you pos
Man made climate will very likely make ALL THOSE THINGS YOU MENTIONED
A lot worse
Happen more often
Happen to more people.
@SaucyCheryl
Why, you cannot take opposite views but want to post? That is not how discussion topics work. You are not publishing an article in a newspaper or writing a book which is a one way street.
@SaucyCheryl, @hippydog
That is not true. Read my comment again. Everything else will matter to the last minute until we will all die. That is simply called humanity.
This is a rich man's game. Just like the MeToo was while little girls are sold in sex slavery elsewhere but no, we will spend billions on MeToo in our fancy clothes in big hotels just to talk about it.
Fight all problems but but don't trivialize other serious problems. Little children are starving today. We are going to save the planet and let them die because a well do girl comes on a safe, fancy yacht to New York, stays in 5 star hotels and does press conference? How much publicity, attention does it deserve?
When did we talk about Rwanda, Yemen killings like this?
No, this is not a bigger problem. No problem is bigger than children who are dying today because of our neglect.
Kudos! Our kids have to save this world! Adults aren't pushing hard enough!
We have Betsy DeVos as the Secretary of Education. How genuinely concerned can the administration be about a future for kids?
Awesome,hope they get something done. Problem here is our government is bought and paid for , especially the White House . Republicans have favored the polluters ,and the politicians have bent over for them for a long time. We couldn't ratify the UN convention on children's rights. We signed it but the republicans wouldn't ratify it, corporate greed at it's finest, trump pulled out of the climate accords (probably the only time he pulled out of anything that wasn't a business arrangement) . Maybe after a blue tsunami we can get our conscious back
Yes, she is quite inspirational. We all need to demand change. For me, the other story is a country that educates its youths and empowers them to speak up.
