I am going down the slippery slope tonight. I finally agreed to join several friends at the wine and women Episcopal Church monthly event. I like wine and I like the people. They all know I'm an atheist and none of them have ever tried to convert me. Some of them incorrectly surmise that I'm spiritual but I'm pretty sure a deeper conversation with them will convince them otherwise.
I had a long conversation years ago with the assistant minister of a UU Church in Denver. I was told that I was a spiritual person, though the vast majority of the congregants knew I was an atheist. He suggested to me that I believed in the spirit of man, of the born goodness of every person. I was, in his view, a Humanist. I may suggest that you are also.
Pleasant evening and I got nine signatures for my expand Medicaid petition. They even had a great program about a woman priest in Nashville who runs a rehab facility for women of the night.[thistlefarms.org].
I wouldn't turn down an invitation like that. Enjoy!
Enjoy...have fun, Episcopalians are fairly relaxed and non judgmental. I don’t expect religion will even be on the agenda,
