We see this all the time in our society. When you are losing an argument, attack the person. It's easier than actually coming up with a reasoned and fact-based argument that supports your case.

The ignorance of these religious hacks never cease to amaze me!!! Is there instructions on how to put a man on the moon in the Bible? How about the cure for cancer? Christians are some the most ignorant and dangerous people I know.
I loathe religious people, especially leaders who deny facts and suggest their Bible is the answer to the Worlds problems. Absolute bullshit!!!

You easily fooled people, here is why Greta Thunberg’s sailing won’t help the climate at all.

[google.com]

Weak, we are forced to use some carbon emission its surrounding us everywhere.
We fail if we don't try.

@Castlepaloma Other than not having just clean air and water around us, nothing we will do... will help to save the planet. Don't buy everything they tell you. This is oversold to us.

None of this says that climate change isn't happening. What can we do living as Neanderthal. It takes a diesel truck to deliver the windmill blades. But if, added together, carbon emissions are reduced, we are making headway.

I will never give up, life depends on it.

I don't know about the Bible but want her to go back to school and learn some rules and minimum decency about how to talk to grown ups. The UN is not her place to scold world leaders by saying... how dare you. She has no idea what world leaders do to solve multitude of problems. She is over pampered and must finish growing up first. She is a child lost in the game and politics of grown ups.

We are lost in the fancy and freak show of high visibility of big hotel press conferences and the fancy trip in her shiny yacht. How much gas did her yacht need? I am sure she is driven in her Dad's car that needs gas and exists fumes, Mom needs a fridge, an oven, a sandwich maker, a mixer, home needs heat.... Lol. I had enough of her. I bet we will forget about her in less than 2 years. She will do a 9 to 5 job somewhere and do dishes every night just like all of us.

The world needs a fancy every 2 years. It was Princess Diana and her passion for landmines once ... lol. Mother Theresa died in the same week as Diana but we are still mourning Diana in grocery checkout magazines and cheap entertainment gossip TV shows. The masses are not intelligent. They need fun or they get bored very soon. Mother Theresa will not do. We are really fucked up. We are not free thinkers. We are taken in by anyone and anything easily. Criticizing religion does not make you a free thinker.

Wow.
Just, wow.

Age does not command respect. People should be respected because they are respectable. People who are doing nothing to solve this Global Crisis do not deserve respect. She was invited to speak at the UN so it is absolutely her place and if the leaders she is scolding are doing nothing about the burning of fossil fuels, then they deserve to be scolded.

If you want to refute her arguments, do so. But calling her a "child" does nothing to address her arguments. It would be as if she dismissed your arguments by calling you an "old man," It is hard to take someone seriously when he dismisses "the masses" (whoever they are?) as being unintelligent and follows that absurd generalization with, "they needs fancies or they get bored very soon." At least proofread your condescension.

@ToolGuy She traveled in a yacht from Sweden and gave press interviews will full camera crews along the way to the U.S.

Read more about what was involved behind the fucking farce here... [google.com]

She is a person with whom you can trust sincerity. The significance of her youth: she has so much life ahead with which to deal with a messed up environment. She has every right to cry out. And thank goodness she is. She is getting noticed around the globe. She must be affecting millions that affect politicians.

@linxminx
What works at the UN?

  1. Children killed by chemical attacks in Syria?
  2. Genocides in Rwanda?
  3. US and Saudi indiscriminate bombings in Yemen?

What has worked there? This is the place that passed a resolution for America and others to bomb and invade Iraq.

Maybe because we don't have a white Caucasian face hero in a rich country talking about other dire problems?

Even today just 60 countries promised to do more but it is barely barely enough. World leaders have too much on the plate and the UN as it is... is not working.

Even if we try, the damage to the Earth cannot be stopped or certainly cannot be reversed. Scientists are not telling you that.

@MrDMC I am crying because there is no golf course in my neighborhood, Paris Hilton is crying because her pink colored poodle is not eating the fancy food just imported from France.

Gimme a break. Children are dying of starvation daily in poor countries and she is crying over the planet?

@St-Sinner Your right. Those things arn't happening on the planet.

@ToolGuy More answers will start coming out but she saved no emissions.

"Greta Thunberg’s two-week trip across Atlantic in ‘zero-carbon yacht’ may generate more emissions than it saves as two of the crew have to FLY to New York to bring the boat back to Europe.

The person who's made it possible is perhaps even more surprising: Monegasque royal Pierre Casiraghi, Grace Kelly's grandson."

Greta fans, read and weep... [google.com]

The number one threat for humanity is the natural environment by most people agree like 196 countries signing the Paris Accord . Because the top ten ways to die is diseases related. What is related to disease? Polluted from water, food, air, earth, radiation and fucked up translators. Poverty would be Second.

@Castlepaloma The earth will be here and poverty, starvation, disease will kill more humanity before anything severe happens to Earth.

@ogator There is no need to proofread, I am not in your English class, am I? This is a fucking discussion board. If you do not understand what I am saying, ask me. I will explain.

I have read extensively about her. I stand by my opinion.

"How dare you!" She is absolutely right. AND it is effective. People are talking about that phrase. This is a time for sharply telling it like it is. This is very serious. Nothing else is as serious as this. We have to cut to the chase and put those other things behind the climate crisis.

@think-beyond
This is not serious because nothing or nobody can stop a massive phenomenon like that. We should immediately begin saving the dying human beings around is which is all on hold due to this fancy, rich man's obsession.

Good ole Christian Pastas!

How rude!

IMHO: The key takeaway is how people evaluate truth versus lies...
Agnostic: Truth = Result of critical thought, considering sources, evidence, and the big picture.
Theist: Truth = Declarations by charismatic claimants to the throne, regardless of reality.
Religion is tasked with teaching this to their congregation because that is how they prove their stories. I don't know if this way of thinking is a cause or an effect but, somehow, their people come away with this manner of thinking and apply it to everything.

Ironically, one of the passages in the Bible states that it is humans' job to take care of the home we were granted by God. Funny how many Christians are not only completely unwilling to advocate for clean energy, but claim that there is no current problem at all. Christian hypocrisy at its finest!

With people like this, I wish I could tie them down and pull out their nose-hairs one-by-one with a pair of tweezers.
